Vietnam to reduce tariffs on imported US grain

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, US – US wheat and corn growers received welcome news on Nov. 16 as the Vietnam government announced it would eliminate its 3% tariff on US wheat imports and reduce its tariff on imported US corn from 5% to 2% by the end of the year.

The decree, which will go into effect on Dec. 30, was praised by US agricultural trade groups.

Millers seek help fighting supply chain bottleneck

WASHINGTON, DC, US — Grain millers have reached out to US President Joe Biden seeking a partner in the mission to alleviate massive US supply chain challenges propelling prices higher amid growing shortages of critical ingredients such as gluten, emulsifiers, and soybean oil, along with packaging.

Wheat futures: How high can they go?

WASHINGTON, DC, US – Kansas City and Minneapolis wheat futures posted new contract and multi-year highs this week. The Minneapolis continuous spring wheat future (with the December 2021 contract the current leading month) traded up to $10.47 a bushel on Oct. 26, eclipsing the most recent previous high at $10.35 in July 2012. USDA lowers all-wheat crop estimate to 1.646 billion bushels

WASHINGTON, DC, US — The US Department of Agriculture on Sept. 30, in its Small Grains 2021 Summary, estimated the 2021 US all-wheat crop at 1.646 billion bushels, down 51.041 million bushels from the most recent previous forecast made in the USDA’s August Crop Production report and down 182.279 million bushels, or 10%, from 1.828 billion bushels in 2020. USDA forecasts records for world wheat production, use and trade

WASHINGTON, DC, US — The US Department of Agriculture in its September World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report issued Sept. 10 said the global wheat outlook for 2021-22 was for increased supplies, higher consumption, increased trade, and higher ending stocks compared with August.

Global wheat crop forecast lowered by IGC

LONDON, ENGLAND – Projected global wheat production in 2021-22 has been cut by the International Grains Council to 782 million tonnes, down 6 million tonnes from the group’s July 29 forecast but still up 1.2% from 773 million tonnes in 2020-21.

The Council attributed the cut from last month to smaller projections for wheat production in Canada, Russia and the United States. At 782 million tonnes, the global wheat crop still would be the largest ever.
