CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, US — The average daily volume (ADV) of soft wheat options on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in March 2022 was 136% higher than during the same month last year, according to a CME Group press release summarizing market statistics from the first quarter and March.
The ADV of corn options for March was 62% higher than the previous year, and the ADV of agricultural options was 9% higher than the same month in 2021, with 1.3 million contracts executed.
Compared to the first quarter of 2021, the ADV of agricultural options during that period this year was 9% higher.
US wheat, soybean and corn futures rose on April 4 after data showed Ukrainian grain exports in March were four times less than February levels.
The most-active wheat contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) was up 1.4% at $9.97-1/2 a bushel, rebounding after two sessions of losses. CBOT soybeans edged up 0.3% to $15.86-3/4 a bushel following a two-day slump, and corn climbed 1.3% to $7.44-1/4 a bushel.
