Trade Minister Stephen Cadiz believes the upcoming Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF) will help catapult Trinidad and Tobago towards sustainable development.
Cadiz made the comments while speaking at the official launch of the forum yesterday at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s. The forum will be held from June 13-14 at the Hilton Trinidad.
“The forum will take place at the most opportune time in our path to enhance national development as we seek not only to transform our economy but to establish ourselves as the trade and business hub of the region,” Cadiz said.
“The CIF is designed to build upon opportunities for trade and investment and will strive to catapult Trinidad and Tobago towards sustainable development. In today’s challenging global environment businesses need to aggressively identify and pursue markets. In this regard we envision that the Caribbean Investment Forum will draw upon our combined strengths to optimise trade and investment opportunity.”
The theme of the forum which will be hosted by Government and the Commonwealth Business Council is “Partnering with Trinidad and Tobago to create a gateway between the Commonwealth and the Americas”.
Delegations of investors and government officials from throughout the Commonwealth are expected to attend.
Participants from the forum will also participate in the 12th annual Trade and Investment Convention (TIC) which will be held from June 15-18.
