Wheat seedings, carryover data pressure prices

WASHINGTON, DC, US — Tight supplies of grain and oilseeds have propelled prices in recent months to multi-year highs for ingredients like flour and soybean oil. Data issued in mid-January by the US Department of Agriculture provided some relief, but a prominent commodity analyst cautioned it would be premature to declare an end to the commodity bull market.

US Wheat Associates board elects officers

WASHINGTON, DC, US — The US Wheat Associates (USW) board of directors elected new officers for the 2022-23 fiscal year at its Jan. 14 meeting.

Elected were Clark Hamilton of Ririe, Idaho, US, secretary-treasurer; Michael Peters of Okarche, Oklahoma, US, vice chairman; and Rhonda Larson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, US, chairperson. CARIBBEAN MILLERS’ ASSOCIATION 24TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Caribbean Millers’ Association (CMA) was held on December 7-8, 2021 at the Miami Airport Marriott hotel in Miami, Florida. The meeting was held under the theme Maintaining Productivity During a Pandemic.”

The 24th Annual General Meeting commenced with an opening session with approximately 55 delegates in attendance that were addressed by guest speaker Candice Bruce from USDA-FAS. The meeting continued and many of the delegates gave highly informative presentations.
