Ocrim to build new lines for North Dakota Mill

GRAND FORKS, NORTH DAKOTA, US — Ocrim will build two new milling plants and revamp an existing one for North Dakota Mill.

The H mill, for durum wheat processing, will have a capacity of 360 tpd while the I mill, for hard wheat, will have a capacity of 250 tpd.

For the existing 250-tpd D mill, a conversion from durum wheat to hard and soft wheat is foreseen, with an increase in capacity and the integration of the latest machines from Ocrim.

US all-wheat seedings expected to increase in 2020

WASHINGTON, DC, US — Growers in 2021 intend to seed more area to wheat than in 2020, though it would be the fourth-smallest all-wheat planted area since records began in 1919.

All-wheat planted area was projected at 46.358 million acres, up 5% from 44.349 million acres seeded in 2020, up 1% from 46 million acres as projected by the USDA at its annual Agricultural Outlook Forum in February, and down 1% from the average of the past five years.

ADM unveils new supply chain initiative in the UK

LONDON, ENGLAND — ADM on Feb. 2 unveiled a new supply chain initiative in which the company’s UK origination business, ADM Agriculture Ltd., will become the sole supplier for ADM Milling’s Tilbury site beginning with the 2021 wheat harvest.

ADM said the decision reflects the company’s desire to work more closely with farmers, shorten supply chains and build strong working relationships with the region’s farmer suppliers. ADM’s flour mill in Tilbury serves bakeries throughout London and southeast England.

Ocrim supplies mill in Burkina Faso

CREMONA, ITALY — Ocrim has supplied a new 600-tpd flour mill in Burkina Faso to SBCI Industrie, which is part of Groupe Hajjar.

The mill will produce two types of flour: boulangerie, for baking, and patisserie or beignet, with a low ash content, for pastry or special applications.

Suez Canal remains blocked by ship

CAIRO, EGYPT — A stranded container ship lodged across a single-lane stretch of the Suez Canal has put a halt to shipping traffic, including vessels carrying grain.
