20th Annual General Meeting

The Caribbean Millers’ Association (CMA) hosted its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 5-7, 2016 at the El Conquistador Resort, Fajardo, Puerto Rico under the theme “Innovation in Milling: Way Forward for Sustainability”.

The Meeting began with an Opening Session whereby Government Affairs Representative of the Senate of Puerto Rico, Mr. Antonio Melendez, brought greetings to the approximately 60 delegates in attendance. The subsequent sessions comprised of very informative and interesting presentations from:

New flour mill in works in Jamaica

KINGSTON, JAMAICA — Seprod Ltd. has partnered with Seaboard Corp. in an initiative that could see the companies develop a flour milling operation in Jamaica.

 

Richard Pandohie, chief executive officer of Seprod, told the Jamaica Observer that the companies are in the evaluation stage, trying to decide whether to acquire an international or local distribution entity or to build out a facility before the end of the year.

Buhler holds Bakery Expert Conference at new innovation center

ADM temporarily shuts corn plant

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S. — In February one of Archer Daniels Midland Co.’s (ADM) corn processing complexes in Decatur, Illinois, U.S., was shut down twice due to a weather related power outage and a leak in one of its pipes.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S. — Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) board of directors has nominated Suzan F. Harrison to stand for election to the board at its upcoming annual stockholders’ meeting on May 4. ADM expands pet food business with purchase of Crosswind Industries

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S. — Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) said it has signed an agreement to acquire Crosswind Industries, Inc., a Kansas, U.S.-based producer of dry-expanded, dual-texture, semi-dry and semi-moist treat products for pets.
