FAO: Haiti’s cereal production decreases

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI — The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimated Haiti’s 2015 cereal production at 353,000 tonnes, down 4% from the 2014 drought-reduced level and significantly below the five-year average, according to a Dec. 30 GIEWS Country Brief from the FAO.

Cargill sees gains in grain, oil seeds processing

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Net earnings at Cargill in the second quarter ended Nov. 30, totaled $1.39 billion, up from $784 million in the same period a year ago. Meanwhile, adjusted operating earnings in the second quarter were $574 million, down 13% from $657 million in the same period a year ago.
