Ukraine restricts wheat exports

India, Jan. 28 — The Ukrainian government and traders have agreed that no more than 1.2 million tonnes of Ukrainian millingwheat will be exported between Jan. 1 and June 30.The volume will fulfill all their export obligations in which sales of millingwheat will not exceed 900,000 tonnes in the first quarter in 2015 and 300,000 in the following three months. Rice milling business bright in Cambodia

Rice mill and tourism businesses are outstanding, bright businesses for Thai investors in Cambodia now, said Jiranun Wongmongkol, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) at the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh.

Thai investors looking for investment in Cambodia should consider in investing in these two business sectors, said Ms Jiranun.

Global feed production up 2%

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY, U.S. — Global production of feed increased 2% to 980 million tonnes in 2014, according to the 2015 Alltech Global Feed Survey released on Jan. 23.

Feed producers responded to consumer demands for more protein by increasing the number of mills that produce animal feed and the amount of product they generate, Alltech said.

Canada looking for new uses for pulse flour

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA — Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is investing C$950,000 to help the Canadian International Grains Institute (Cigi) identify new uses for roller-milled pulse flour.

AHRENSBURG, GERMANY — Mühlenchemie announced in January that it has expanded its Technology Center to include a pilot plant for pasta, in response to the shortage of quality wheat for pasta production.

The first wheat crop in Kansas was grown at the Shawnee Methodist Mission near Fairway in Johnson County in 1839. Production spread westward as the territory was settled eventually becoming a state in 1861.

Thailand sees record rice export volume

Thailand achieved its highest-ever rice export volume of 10.8 million tonnes last year, enabling the country to reclaim its crown as the world’s largest rice exporter, according to the Commerce Ministry.

The target for this year is to continue the huge export volume in a range of 10 million to 11 million tonnes.

Commerce Minister General Chatchai Sarikalya said yesterday that 10.8 million tonnes of rice valued at US$5.37 billion (Bt174.8 billion) were shipped overseas last year.
